Gus DahikValidaTek would like to thank and acknowledge Gus Dahik for his hard work and dedication! Gus is a DevOps Engineer IV on our US Marine Corps (USMC) Business Mission Area (BMA) contract. ValidaTek provides Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) with technical services for the BMA Modernization Campaign, which was established in response to the DoD Chief Management Officer’s mandate to reduce waste and increase efficiencies. The team establishes and maintains the BMA Modernization Campaign’s management approach using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) with best practices from Lean Startup, Design Thinking, Service Design, and IT Service Management (ITSM). They advise the BMA portfolio manager and program managers on technical design and execution; perform technology rationalization for Marine Corps Defense Business Systems and the Marine Corps’ migration to the cloud; and define the Marine Corps DevSecOps policy and processes to perform continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous authorization of applications. Gus is responsible for supporting systems engineering using the SAFe and ITIL v4 frameworks with the goal being cloud migration of Marine Corps IT systems. This includes the development of documentation, which defines policy and processes such as requirements, SOPs and workflows, design, architecture, security, and test plans. Gus majored in Information Science with a concentration in networking and communications and minored in Computer Science at Christopher Newport University. He is currently a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and has the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) 4 Agilist certification. He is also working on obtaining the AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification. When asked what he likes most about working for ValidaTek, Gus mentioned that he likes the value that the company puts on its employees – which coincides with ValidaTek’s top core value: make people the priority. He mentioned there is a very good work-life balance here and he feels very lucky to be working with an amazing team! He stated that for as small as the BMA Team is, he feels that they have accomplished so much in the short time they have been together.
